The 7 Vocabulary builder methods

It's important to associate meanings of words together and there are multiple ways out there to do this!

But first we need to make a word forms table of the word or concept that we are trying to learn and then choose one or more of the other association methods to learn the vocabulary.

After completing a table like this on an idea, topic or concept you are trying to learn, it's a good idea to look at the options that follow to see which method is most appropriate for learning what you aim to learn.

Below are some examples of bubble networds, pictures, diagrams, word trees, the tree-diagram and word forks.

The bubble netword system is a system where you have a core idea or thing that you use to then add all the other related word that you know in a bubble network, as shown below.

Pictures are used to label all of the different parts which are shown in the picture to help your brain associate the object and word in the appropriate positions, as shown below.

The next example looks at diagrams and how to label specific things for more academic purposes so accuracy of vocabulary and diagrams are extremely important in this case.

Some diagrams can also help you to combine the bubble netword so that you can contrast word concepts which are used in similar situations, as follows.

Another useful method is word trees. These will take one situation or concept and group all the related words to it using 'branches' which will help you remember how to describe the situation or concept effectively.

Following this we also have the tree-diagram which takes a thing and aims to show us all the situations or places where it can be used and what it's called...these can become quite detailed and intricate as more vocabulary is associated.

And then last but not least we have word forks which is specifically used for adjectives, verbs, and adverbs which are used to describe people, places or things (nouns). They are like the paint to colour in your picture when using words to describe something.

Perfect for learning new vocabulary or new skill vocabulary. These methods give you your vocabulary at a glance and therefore can serve the purpose of helping you associate vocabulary with situations, pictures and places more easily.
