Homeschool assistance from online sources.

Image
At MEND Education we want to help students of all ages and backgrounds to reach their goals and their potential. Since we provide assistance to students who are a part of schools and Universities we thought it would be appropriate to point out that we also provide assistance to students who homeschool.  We only require that the topic and content that the student is covering with us, should be sent to us via email 2 days in advance. This way we can provide the required help based on the content being covered in the homeschool curriculum that has been chosen by the parents. We also make sure to take the parents teaching requirements into consideration during the lessons , since each homeschooling parent has a specific reason that they decided to home school their precious child. We are here to make your life easier, not more difficult and challenging! Other that this assistance we also assist with planning curricula for parents who would like to combine more than one school...

Study methods for Physics!

Image
As with any subject, there are some strategies that you can use and follow to make sure that you achieve your goals within the subject! First we will cover some general pointers for studying Physics which you can apply to any subject...then we will continue on to methods which are specifically useful for Physics itself. We have added some links to help you find some of the sites and resources we recommend... General pointers for studying: 1. Master the basics of physics: This means that you find the core ideas and theories related to physics and make sure that you clearly understand these aspects. These will consist of the most likely problems you could encounter in exams, the basic principles and concepts that the subject is based on. Then you need to see how these core principles are linked to one another to create a whole picture of the subject. An example of such a basic understanding is shown below... 2. Strengthen your math skills: This is useful to do when studying ...

Skills obtained through learning Physics

Image
What is the main goal of Physics and every Physicist out there? The goal is to understand the behaviour of matter and energy on every level...This means that we look out into the universe to understand and into the smallest parts found on Earth to understand. When looking into becoming a Physicist, remember that you will learn all about theoretical and experimental techniques by studying the laws and properties of motion , heat, light, electricity, radiation, magnetism, particles and matter. These eight subtopics form the core and basis of everything we learn in Physics. The combinations might be different and the way they are integrated vary vastly BUT that is what makes physics related discoveries so exciting! So clearly physics matter :) Anyway back to the point. The various skills you learn from physics centre around problem-solving, communication, technical, and research/project development skills. A breakdown of how you learn these skills are as follows:     Proble...

Is physics useful? 8 uses...

Image
As you can see in this picture above, it is quite clear why physics is useful in everyday life! We also have a topic based series on Physics on YouTube if you would like to get more access to topic based lessons. As they say on the Udemy blog " Even reading this article wouldn’t be possible without the physics-based ideas that played a huge role in the creation of computers and the internet. Every time you get in your car, you’re taking advantage of yet another benefit of what is often considered the most fundamental of all science fields." -  Udemy link Furthermore, using physics in the long run goes hand-in-hand with math skills. But other than that here are some of the skills and job fields that REQUIRE physics skills! Let's jump right in! 1. Physics is at the core of all medical study. If you dream of becoming a doctor, pharmacist, or pathologist then you need physics since all the tests that are done in the medical field would not be possible without the advances m...

5 Practical uses of physics during college and after education

Image
There are some amazing points and skills developed when studying physics and this section will only look at a few of them...We also have some basic Physics topics on our YouTube channel , MEND Education, which will give some insight into physics! Join us there for more... Firstly physics allows us to figure out how the world around us works. It allows us to question and analyse what we see, don't yet understand and also stimulates our curious nature. Physics is not only limited to understanding things that humans have developed and created but also allows us to get fantastic insight into nature and how nature works! We can see connections and patterns around us and creatively guess how these work to give us ideas on how to further develop and create amazing useful things for ourselves and others. Secondly physics is useful since it stimulates and develops analytical skills, quantitative observation skills and data analysis skills. These three core skills then develop strong prob...

The 7 Vocabulary builder methods

Image
It's important to associate meanings of words together and there are multiple ways out there to do this!  But first we need to make a word forms table of the word or concept that we are trying to learn and then choose one or more of the other association methods to learn the vocabulary. After completing a table like this on an idea, topic or concept you are trying to learn, it's a good idea to look at the options that follow to see which method is most appropriate for learning what you aim to learn. Below are some examples of bubble networds, pictures, diagrams, word trees, the tree-diagram and word forks. The bubble netword system is a system where you have a core idea or thing that you use to then add all the other related word that you know in a bubble network, as shown below. Pictures are used to label all of the different parts which are shown in the picture to help your brain associate the object and word in the appropriate positions, as shown below. The next example look...

Brain food! 15 to eat for mental performance...

Image
What you eat determines your performance in a day...If you choose to eat processed foods (any food from any type of container, box, powder, bag, flash frozen or tin) your body needs to work harder to process it and get what it needs from the food. If you choose to eat non-processed foods (any food which is fresh and straight from the soil or butchery) then your body can easily process it and extract what it needs, since the substance being processed is familiar to your body. Processed foods are not familiar to your body. So let's jump into some detail to establish why each food helps your brain... 1. Avocados - helps to keep your blood sugar levels steady and contains vitamin K and folate which prevents blood clots in the brain. It also improves brain function in memory and concentration areas. It also contains vitamins B and C which are vitamins which need to be restored to your body daily. 2. Beetroot - reduce inflammation, high in antioxidants and helps your blood get rid of t...

ADJECTIVES! How to use them and why they are useful!

Image
So let's start with step 1...what in the world is an adjective? An adjective is a word that gives a better understanding or more knowledge about a noun or pronoun. The word will help you easily identify which person, place or thing someone else is talking about. these words also usually have 'a', 'an' or 'the' before them. So as you can imagine, adjectives are the Picasso (the painter) of the English language which brings colour to what is being said. On YouTube we have made a playlist of some basic and common English adjectives to help you identify and learn about the importance of adjectives! Feel free to check it out! We use adjectives to create a picture for the listener or reader...so for an example, here are two stories which say exactly the same BUT you will notice that once creates a mental image for you as you read it and the other does not... I was going to my friend's house to learn some handy skills which my mom needs me to know. my mom is ...

ENGLISH LEARNING: Why verbs are important and useful to learn...

Image
What is a verb? How can we use verbs? Why are verbs useful to learn when learning English? In this blog we will look at these questions and their answers. What is a verb? A verb refers to a word that describes an action. This action can be physical or mental. Verbs come in three tenses which are past, present and future. Past refers to before or yesterday or in the past. Present refers to now, right now or the current things happening. And lastly future refers to tomorrow or a time still to come. It is important to remember that a verb will help you to express something which is happening or which you can see or feel happening. How can we use verbs? Make sure which tense you are in. Are you in past, present or future tense? Now you can make sure that your verb has the correct tense as well. The main job of the verb is to show you what the subject is doing or feeling. There will be a verb in every sentence otherwise the sentence does not make sense. Example: I like my dog. (like is...

ENGLISH LEARNING: Why starting with nouns is important...

Image
Noun words are names for people, places or things. The names for things are the building blocks of any language and therefore starting with nouns when learning English will give you useful building-blocks to be able to at least express basic necessities. These words can, alone, speak of a person, creature, place, thing or thought. This is helpful when you are not sure how to link words together in a new language yet. It also helps others to try and understand what it is that you are trying to say, receive or express. There are different ways to recognise nouns and to tune your ears to recognising nouns. A noun literally refers to what you call or name a thing, place or person. For example, "I am Jessie." "Jessie" would be the name of the person and that is why it's a noun. Another example, "That is my dog, Spot." "Spot" and "dog" are nouns because "dog" tells you what thing we are talking about and "Spot" is wha...

The reason I want to help you MEND Education in your life.

Image
As a child I moved around a lot and went to about 11 different schools and in the middle somewhere also homeschooled for 4 years. I always felt bored and frustrated while in the school system and had the most fun during the homeschooled 4 years. I do not believe that homeschooling is the answer for all children at all, but it showed and taught me that school wasted a lot of my time by forcing me to follow the same pace as everyone else. I felt like a caged animal who didn't belong. This caused me to act out a lot during school since I did not know how to share what was wrong with me. I didn't have the ability yet to express myself in such a way that people could understand that I was bored in some subjects and felt lost in other subjects. My understanding an abilities were vastly different for each subject. For example, I had a natural ability and interest in languages and science but because of the slow pace that the teachers followed I got bored with the subjects and lost i...
